Film and Video Editing

I specialize in editing short-format documentaries using a mix of sit-down interviews, vérité, and archival footage. The recent focus of my work has been on climate, sustainability, and food. I enjoy collaborating with directors, producers, and artists who approach their work with curiosity and an openness to experimentation. Additional experience includes promos, concert films, long-format documentaries, and narrative feature films. In 2022-2023 I was a Karen Schmeer Editing Fellow in NYC.

Healing the Land

Wild Harmony Farm in Exeter, Rhode Island is a family farm that sells organic pork, grass-fed beef, and pastured poultry. Owners Rachael Slattery and Ben Coerper use regenerative agriculture techniques, which help restore soil health and reduce the impacts of climate change. It’s sharply different from how most food in the U.S. is produced today, on industrial-scale farms.

Native Table

This film profiles the founders of Owamni an Indigenous restaurant in Minneapolis, MN. It’s part of a series of short films that tell stories of people who are working to lower our carbon footprint with impactful new ways to gather and prepare the food we need. The series looks at five important areas where we can make changes—farming in the ocean and the air, finding new food sources, learning from Indigenous agriculture, and rescuing the food we already have.

The 3 Cricketeers

An official selection of the NEW YORK WILD FILM FESTIVAL, 2023. Claire and Chad Simons are the co-founders of 3 Cricketeers, a cricket-farm business creating a line of edible products billed as “daringly delicious” for curious human snackers. The 3 Cricketeers recently won an award at the Yale Environment 360 Film Contest and inspired the series Fixing Food.

Seeds of Resilience

The plant amaranth is native to Central America, but with permission from a collective of Maya Achi farmers in Guatemala, its seeds are being sown in the U.S., including at Stone Bend Farm near Ithaca, New York.

The Holy Presence of Joan D’Arc

A performance of Julius Eastman’s The Holy Presence of Joan d’Arc. This was filmed at Looking Glass Arts in West Fulton, NY for the UCLA Tune-in Festival.

An Uncommon Woman

Feature-length documentary about the trail-blazing opera director Rhoda Levine. Please contact me directly for a link to the work-in-progress.

Although Rhoda’s achievement is remarkable from an artistic perspective, it is important to remember she emerged as a leader in the field at a time when few women rose to positions of influence. Rhoda’s talent and grace triumphed over prejudices and serve as a model for us today.
